Refinishing
The hardwood floor refinishing professionals
Seawest Hardwood Floor Refinishing works across the Greater Vancouver area on homes, commercial properties, rental apartments, community centres and sports venues — gymnasiums, squash courts and bowling alleys included.
How we work
Dust-free, and easy to live with
Refinishing has a reputation for coating a house in fine grit that keeps reappearing for months. That is the old way of doing it. Every sander we run is connected to a sealed containment system that captures the dust at the cutting head, so it never gets into the air, the ducts or the rest of your home.
It makes the job quicker as well as cleaner. There is no masking off the house before we start and no deep clean afterwards, and our water-based finishes cure in hours rather than days — so the coats go on back to back and we are off your floors sooner than a traditional oil-based job could manage.
We take great pride in our work and follow the industry-accepted standards for hardwood floor refinishing set out by the National Wood Flooring Association. We are also BBB accredited, and we work exceptionally hard to make sure you are satisfied with the result.
The process
Four stages, start to finish
Most whole-floor jobs run two to three days, and rooms are walk-ready about 24 hours after the final coat. We will tell you what to expect before we start, and we hold to it.
-
Assessment and estimate
We look at the wood you have, the damage it carries and how much thickness is left to work with, then quote the work in writing.
-
Dust-free sanding
Containment equipment captures the sanding dust at the machine, so the old finish, scratches and dents come out without filling your home with airborne dust — and without the days of masking and cleaning either side of the job.
-
Stain and colour
Natural, one of our stains, or a custom colour mixed for you. We sample on your own boards so you can see the colour on your wood before we commit.
-
Protective finish
Water-based, low-VOC coats in matte, satin or gloss, applied evenly and left to cure. They dry in hours rather than days, so the coats go on back to back and you get the room back sooner.
